Quality Dental Crowns for Tooth Restoration

When a tooth becomes worn down, damaged, or has minor cosmetic flaws such as stubborn discoloration, a quality crown can restore and protect the tooth. At All Smiles Dental Studio in Encinitas, California, Dr. Ali Shahrokh provides quality dental crowns to his patients. Also called a cap, a dental crown is crafted from high-quality porcelain material to protect weakened teeth, restore cracked or broken teeth, and even cover up discoloration. Contact our office for more information about how a dental crown will restore and protect any tooth that needs it.

Do You Need a Dental Crown?

Several situations may call for a dental crown to be put in place over a tooth. Teeth that are cracked and in danger of breaking further can benefit from being further compromised. Dental crowns are put over teeth that have just undergone root canal therapy, providing protection to the now weakened tooth. Dental crowns are even great for cosmetic purposes. If you have a tooth that is discolored and not responding to whitening treatments, a crown can be put over the tooth, which is shaded to match your natural teeth.

Dr. Shahrokh will also place a dental crown to:

  • Protect teeth that have had significant decay removed
  • Conceal irregularly shaped teeth
  • Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy
  • As part of a dental bridge (serve as the abutments)
  • Attach as part of a dental implant
  • Protect teeth which are cracked, chipped, or broken

How Does a Dental Crown Work?

When you visit All Smiles Dental Studio for a crown, it will be a muti-appointment process. Any necessary work to be performed on the tooth prior to getting a crown will be done during your initial appointment. Also, during this appointment, impressions will be taken and sent to a lab where your dental crown will be crafted. In the meantime, you will be given a temporary crown to wear to protect your tooth. Once our team receives your dental crown, you will come back in, and we will make any final adjustments/preparations before cementing the crown in place.
